Google Assistant

The Google Assistant is a voice assistant developed by the technology company Google. Comparable competing products with a similar range of functions are Amazon Alexa and the Apple development Siri.

The Google Assistant is pre-installed by default on Android smartphones or tablets and in the Google Home smart speaker. The Google Assistant is activated with the prompt "Ok, Google!". Then comes the actual question or instruction. For example: “Ok Google! What does WiFi mean in German?” The Google Assistant then answers the question in a matter of seconds via voice output.

In the smart home context, the Google Assistant offers support for controlling smart home components. For example, you can use voice commands to turn the lights on and off, lower the shutters, turn up the heating or turn off the alarm system.

Here you can find all Google Home compatible devices and here more information about the compatibility of voice assistants.
