The Q label is a quality mark for smoke detectors. In order to receive the Q label, smoke detectors must meet two requirements:

• You need the CE mark. This states that the product has been tested by the manufacturer and that it meets all EU requirements with regard to safety, health protection and environmental protection.
• They must be certified according to the strict technical guideline vfdb 14-01. The test must be carried out by an independent, accredited test institute.

The guideline vfdb 14-01 stipulates, among other things, a service life of the permanently installed battery of at least ten years and specifies shock and impact resistance. The guideline also contains specifications for electromagnetic compatibility and resistance to humidity and temperature fluctuations.
